Q: What is a glucose and ketone meter?

A: The Precision Xtra Blood Glucose & Ketone Monitoring System allows you to test blood glucose and blood ketones with the same meter! Kit includes Precision Xtra meter, carrying case, lancing device, 10 lancets. Glucose testing results in approximately 5 seconds, ketone results in 10 seconds.

Q: What are the normal values for glucose and ketones in blood?

A: under 0.6mmol/L is normal. 0.6 to 1.5mmol/L is slightly high – test again in 2 hours. 1.6 to 3mmol/L means you're at risk of DKA and should speak to your diabetes care team for advice.

Q:  Is blood glucose of 3 low?

A: A blood sugar level below 70 mg/dL (3.9 mmol/L) is low and can harm you. A blood sugar level below 54 mg/dL (3.0 mmol/L) is a cause for immediate action. You are at risk for low blood sugar if you have diabetes and are taking any of the following diabetes medicines: Insulin.
