How Blood Sugar Test Is Done

If your glycemic index has not stabilized and you have just injected insulin, you should monitor it at least four to seven times a day. The frequency is higher, because the blood sugar fluctuations at this time are relatively large and require close monitoring.

The five points recommended for everyone to monitor blood sugar are: fasting, half an hour after a meal, 1 hour after a meal, 2 hours after a meal, and 3 hours after a meal. Under normal circumstances, the blood sugar at these five points is slowly rising. However, there are no rules for the blood sugar values of diabetic patients. If the blood sugar control is up to the standard and the condition is stable, it can be monitored two to three times a week.

Correct steps to measure blood sugar:

1. Before testing blood sugar, to adjust the code of the blood glucose meter, you need to pay attention to the code of the blood sugar test strip, which must be the same as the code of blood sugar.

Second, the second is to wash your hands, use the six-step hand-washing method to wash, and disinfect with alcohol.

3. After the patient is disinfected, the arm needs to hang down for 30 seconds, so that the blood can fully flow to the fingers.

Fourth, put the blood collection needle into the test paper pen, and then prick the finger to take an appropriate amount of blood.

5. After the blood glucose meter instructs to take blood, drop the blood on the test strip.

6. Insert the blood glucose test strip into the blood glucose meter. Some blood glucose meters need to insert the test strip into the moving side of the blood glucose meter first, drop blood on the test strip, and read the blood glucose value from the blood glucose meter after a few seconds or ten seconds.

7. Record the blood sugar level and monitoring time in the record book.
