COVID-19 affects different people in different ways.
Most common symptoms:
fever
dry cough
fatigue
loss of taste or smell
nasal congestion
Less common symptoms:
sore throat
headache
muscle or joint pain
diarrhea
skin rash
nausea or vomiting
chills or dizziness
red or irritated eyes
Serious symptoms:
difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
loss of speech or mobility, or confusion
chest pain
Some people may only have very mild or non-specific symptoms, while some may develop severe symptoms.
Complications may include respiratory failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), sepsis and septic shock, thromboembolism, and/or multi-organ failure including injury of the heart, liver, or kidneys.
On average it takes 5–6 days from when someone is infected with the virus for symptoms to show, however it can take up to 14 days. Some people who have had COVID-19 may continue to experience symptoms, including fatigue, respiratory and neurological symptoms. At the moment, it is still unclear how long the symptoms may last.
