The Methanemetabolite Rapid Test Self Test is a qualitative detection method used to detect methyldopamine metabolites (2-ethyl-1,5-dimethyl-3,3-diphenylpyrrolidine or EDDP) in urine. The cutoff concentration for this detection is 100 ng/mL. Methyldopa is a synthetic opioid drug commonly used for drug rehabilitation and maintenance in heroin addicts. Screening for methyldopa and its metabolites in urine can effectively monitor the treatment compliance of methyldopa. Methyldopa is rapidly metabolized to n-methyldopa in the liver, but due to its rapid dehydration to produce EDDP (the main metabolite), it is difficult to detect n-methyldopa. If only methyldopa testing is conducted, only the mother drug can be measured, which may lead to false positive (doping in the urine of addicts) or false negative (only high enough concentrations of metabolites can be measured) results. Qualitative confirmation of EDDP is performed by drug analysis and automation laboratories, while quantitative confirmation (SO) is sent to Warde Medical Laboratory (including methyldopamine and EDDP)
