Cotinine Rapid Test Self Test is a rapid immunoassay reagent used for qualitative detection of cotinine in urine. Here are some detailed information about the product:
Usage: The Cotinine Rapid Test Self Test is only used for professional in vitro diagnosis and qualitative detection of Cotinine in urine. This reagent provides preliminary analytical test results, but more specific alternative chemical methods must be used to obtain confirmed analytical results.
Principle: Cotinine is the first stage metabolite of nicotine and a toxic alkaloid. When the human body comes into contact with nicotine, it stimulates the autonomic nervous system and central nervous system. Nicotine is a drug that almost every member of smoking society comes into contact with, whether through direct contact or secondhand inhalation. In addition to tobacco, nicotine is also commercially available as an active ingredient in smoking replacement therapies such as nicotine gum, transdermal patches, and nasal sprays. In 24-hour urine, approximately 5% of nicotine dosage is excreted in unchanged drug form, 10% is excreted in the form of cotinine, and 35% is excreted in the form of hydroxycotinine; The concentration of other metabolites is believed to be less than 5%. Although cotinine is considered an inactive metabolite, its elimination rate is more stable than nicotine and mainly depends on urine pH. Therefore, Cotinine is considered a good biomarker for determining nicotine use. The plasma half-life of nicotine is approximately 60 minutes after inhalation or intramuscular injection. Nicotine and cotinine are rapidly eliminated by the kidneys; On the urine detection window of Cotinine (cutoff level of 200 ng/mL), it is expected that positive results may occur within 2-3 days after nicotine use.
